Here's my bi-weekly (at least this week anyway) update:

Skytower porn. They have dug some type of little trench over on the right since I was last out there. Or maybe it's just tracks or something from the earth movers. Dunno.
Image

Certainly looks different on the way to season pass processing.
Image

That's a mighty big ant hill.
Image

Here's some of those flags he was talking about the other day.
Image

I'm assuming that you start with the station at #1, and then progress? I'm not trying to be stupid, I'm asking.
So that would put these at the end of the ride.
Image

Hello lovely little pink flags.
Image

Overview flag porn shot.
Image

Overview flag porn shot #2.
Image

OH NO THEY ARE NOT RIPPING UP OUR SIDEWALKS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE 1973!!! I'M PROTESTING!
Image

The white paint shows up again. This one has actually been there a while, cause the grass had grown over top of it. I apologize profusely for missing this super important marker.
Image

Pink is my favorite new color.
Image

You have been red flagged.
Image

I wonder what this will look like next year.
Image

Peeking through the fence... there is another type of marker like: TZA or maybe it's T2A (Oh! The Terminators are coming!) But I'm guessing this means Transfer Track or Terminal (station). Not sure.
Image

T2B or TZB
Image

That is all for now. The Terminators will be landing soon.

Oh and if it does turn about to be NASCAR, then I have the perfect song for my video already picked out: "Turnin' Left" from Chickenfoot.

Chances are it means Transfer, S would be station more than likely, and L would be lift.

Wes, it appears that you were on the way out while I was on the way in.
We took almost the same identical photos of pink flowers. :o

For example:

Image
You got number two. I got number two. But I also got number three

To avoid double posting of footer markers, I'll leave mine on the cutting room floor. Yours were better anyway, but I did want to point out that you can see some of the footer markings without even entering the park:

Get on your glasses cause the Dirt Thread is about to go 3D:

Not really....

For the impatient. As far as I'm concerned, the longer they take to do this, the better.

Image
Upside down dirt.

Image
Pantone 285 duotone dirt.

Image
Inverted dirt.

Image
Where's Waldo dirt.

Image
It's a really good fence.

Image
Sorry Derek, that spot you pointed out was repaved today.

Image
Oh well.

Image
For the most part, the asphalt remains for now.

Image
Staring back from South Gate, you get a sense of just how long this thing is going to be.
It took seven minutes to walk from one end of the fence to the other, including the extended area out front.

And now for extrees. :D

Image
Yayuh!

Image

Image
They didn't have one that said Wormy on it. :(

Image

Image
The Carolina thing never ends.

Image
WTF?

Image
I am not above potty humor.

Spotted no concrete trucks today. And they're still playing Loveshack. Grrrr. :x

Capler wrote:Remember First in Flight fans, Carowinds is in South Carolina as well, which historically has been a lot more friendly and has given more development funds to the park than our beloved North Carolina. So if I were going to give an attraction a state specific name, it would be something related to South Carolina. Let the South Carolina coaster naming ideas begin...........

yeah, I thought of that later and it's a good point....I don't know SC very well (except for Edisto, which I worship)--so what would relate to SC?

It could be kind of a companion to the Top Gun/Afterburn concept, since that is supposed to be based on fighter pilot maneuvers. The name could have 'Flyer' in it...or maybe just "The Flyer". Not a wildly original name perhaps, but I don't think there are any coasters called 'Flyer' around these parts are there? And I understand the objections to another Carowinds "carolina" coaster...but "Carolina Flyer" has kind of a nice ring to it....

This kind of made me chuckle, as nearly the exact same idea was talked about during the Borg/Nighthawk construction for a little while. I'm sure the threads are still on here.

EDIT: Yep.

well, maybe that goes to show it's a good idea! I'm pretty new to Carowinds so I don't know much of the history, etc.

ooooo, I like Kill Devil Flyer....

You are my new hero.

And I saw you coming, and left. You know I'm like that. "I want to be left ALONE!" (Old SNL skit) I think it was about Bette Davis, but I can't find it on YouTube. YouTube failed me!!!

Oh and maybe that Ride Warriors t is a clue??? It's got a tire on there, kinda like a racing tire? :)

When it gets here, and it will get here when they ship it. I am going to laugh when this is the world's longest kiddy coaster.

Does anyone have a list of all the markers and their numbers? Perhaps it would be a good idea to keep track of where each column is supposed to be. Just a thought. ;) :D

Someone here... or me.... needs to take the satellite image and mark where all the flags are to come up with a "connect the dots" series where we can track what path the ride will actually take.

I don't know If I have the time for that, though
