I notice the bridge is staying and there is no fountain in the courtyard also. We got our answer as to what the giant mound of dirt is for too. I would like to see more concept art of the new maingate.

Jonathan, I know! I think that's why I love Carowinds so much because I grew up going there and I can't BELIEVE it either! Crazy!!

Intimidator-305 was officially clocked at 90 MPH I believe.

That's what RCDB is call it:

Great announcement this morning and very impressive stats. When I originally heard talk of a Carowinds giga, I thought possibly slightly taller and longer than Leviathan, but not overtaking Millenium Force. Possibly 307 or 308 feet tall, and a little over 5,000 feet long. But we will be getting a record breaking 325 foot tall coaster over 6, 000 feet long. Very impressive and can't wait to ride next year.

That's how Canada's Wonderland felt for almost 30 years until CF built Behemoth... they finally have two world-class coasters. We are almost certainly looking at next year's Golden Ticket Award for Best New Atrraction for 2015 (sorry Holiday World)... and I bet it won't take more than 2 years to overtake Millenium Force, Bizarro, Nitro, etc. as the Top Steel Coaster.

Is that really RCDB's official records? Wow, they mess that up pretty bad. We are 7th. With the 5th place tie, both count as 5th place but they take the 5th and 6th place spot (if that makes sense). So the next one up (F325 and SD2000) would be 7th place (and the next coaster is 9th since F325 and SD2000 take the 7th and 8th spot).

VolcanoDiva wrote:Intimidator 305 can definitely push upper 90s and low 100s easily.

Now that I think about it, every coaster I worked at except Backlot had a range for speed.

as news souces told it "shortly after Intimidator 305 opened in 2010, Kings Dominion added trim brakes which slowed its original speed of 94 mph. In 2011, Kings Dominion modified the ride and removed the trim brakes. That put it back in the speed rankings, but at a slightly slower 90 mph."

I remember the advertised 94 mph signs when it first opened up... which later came down. And these are maximum speeds... not a "range" or averages.

There's a lot of butthurt fanboys all over the world right now.
But WE get to hold our heads up high.

I can't believe this. I'm almost in shock. Our little park is now, without a doubt, in the big leagues.
Let's all celebrate! I think we might be taking home some Golden Tickets next year!
