At approximately 6:32 pm tonight, southbound on I-26 just outside Asheville, NC--this is what I saw (don't worry, I wasn't driving)
Image

Holy cr#p! that's our track on the way to Charlotte!
Image

not that bad for a cheap phone camera, traveling at 70 mph....

Ta-Da!!!!

P.S. Sorry, I couldn't get a good shot of the other truck with all the launch components on it--it was just going too damn fast! So, the launch is definitely confirmed.

*edited to thank the team who assisted in getting these pics up: TO (driver of the vehicle I was in who didn't flinch when I suddenly screeched very loudly and had to floor it to catch up to the truck, such that we almost missed our exit), SR (tech support--emailed me back the photos I texted her from my crappy old phone) and CH (tech support--hosted the photos and sent the links to me as I couldn't figure out how to post them)

I was on that same interstate in the same city at 5:30. I missed seeing coaster track by one hour. :(

I wonder if Jarvis was driving the truck? :D

My sources were driving the trucks, all 7 of them...told ya the launch track was on the way! The spine in the pictures are thick to support the launch speed, according to my sources!

looking at the size of the track, you start to get a feel for how massive this coaster is truly going to be. I have goose bumps.

Good scoop lily. This is the first convex track I have seen. Maybe this is the first drop???? I have pulled out the TI-89 (platinum) calculator and am working on some angles. It might take me a few days or more to work out the geometry estimates, but I will see what I can come up with. As Newton's engineer I can assure you that I will have the entire track layout computed in no less than six months from now. Stay tuned for my full report. :)

PS- Let Go!, Let Newton!

Not to broach on the subject, because I am very interested in the new launching/track size topic at hand, but I was just pondering on the West Virginia subject again. Could it be possible that CF just needed a state as a visual representation of a hyper/non-inverted coaster? I mean, put the W and V together (WV) and it looks a lot like a section of coaster hills. Not reading too deep into the meaning or anything...

The track on the flat beds doesn't look absolutely ginormous to you?

Yeah, it does. That's because roller coaster track, especially B&M, is ginormous.

As the person who was next to the truck taking the pictures, I can confirm that they were indeed absolutely ginormous. And a very lovely shade of red, I might add.
