Has the under-the-bridge idea been totally ruled out? Why did they take the foliage out of that area? Also, it kind of looks like footers have been dug about 20-30 feet away from the bridge (or is that just dirt piled there?). You can see that in update pics.

Thanks FSUN for the photos. I looked real closely at the bridge area just to see if anything new was there. As far as I am concerned, I have ruled it out. Based on the footers that are poured and where the construction is, I would say the idea is gone. I would so love to be wrong though.

I Tell ya it really looks like that big hole on the bottom right will be for a splashdown. I forsee a splashdown in the middle of a plaza that will get everyone wet around it.

May have to take advantage of the Freestyle 2 for $18 deal, and planning on hitting up Family Adventures to knock out Swampy. I'll get some pics fo sho. I ain't doing Pedro's house though!
Hypersonic at Carowinds, that has to be the most laughable thing I have ever heard.

I need to fix my pictures, since photobucket is stupid...

Anyway nice update, it's still so weird to see things moving so quickly. I still personally think there will be a splashdown.

I will be going monday.

If you follow the footers, there's no way for there to be a splashdown, because the lifthill is behind the large drainage hole and the presumably station/transfer track footers are behind that. There are no footers leading to or from the giant hole.

It's just gonna be another pond. Carowinds is full of em. Sorry folks.

Catch 22

"Catch-22 is a term coined by Joseph Heller in his novel Catch-22, describing a set of rules, regulations or procedures, or situation which presents the illusion of choice while preventing any real choice. In probability theory, it refers to a situation in which multiple probabilistic events exist, and the desirable outcome results from the confluence of these events, but there is zero probability of this happening as they are mutually exclusive."

:?

Yeah now that I look at it more closely, it appears to not to be a splashdown. I wish the dang annoucement would come already! I wonder when we will start seeing track. Maybe early august/last week of JULY? Heck, maybe even sooner.

maybe you're confused because you depend on wiki for the answer to all life problems and questions. Most "Knowledgeable" people know that when someone generally says a catch-22 in a real life situation they mean its basically a no win situation or quite frankly "damned if you do, damned if you dont". Let me break it down for this situation for you.

People complained and made note when it seemed construction was "going slow", now people are (well not complaining in the same sense) and making note when it seems construction is "going too fast". Hence the situation seemingly like a no win situation because someone is always gonna complain/make note of the status of the contruction and find a problem with it.

I will also reference this post when everything is offically announced because people complained about no new coaster/hyper coaster for carowinds and now they are getting one people are gonna complain about the layout and the speed and basically the whole coaster (some are already doing that) so again its a no win situation for the park, therefore a "catch 22".

Thank you for sheding light on that expression, and no I don't turn to wiki for all lifes answers...

I personally dont care how the layout is or what we are getting, what type is. etc. We are getting something new and decent so I am happy with that. It's better than not having a park or getting nothing new at all.

LOL...I am going to assume that you meant July, and if you didn't, boy are you going to be disappointed.

I am completely puzzled as to why they leveled the entire area to then come back and put a mound of dirt near the current path.

It is easier to level land and then to build a mound, then to try to do it all at once. Plus, they want the station area to be level, and then they might just be storing the dirt there for now  .

Back on subject I noticed that the area that will clearly be water looks to be about the same size of the water splash area for Diamondback at Kings Island. Maybe I am just to hopeful.

agh...I will be at camp all this week, and I just know that they will get the track and everything assembled and running while I'm gone... :]

As to the last post, the area looks a bit smaller than Diamond Backs splashdown, but I could be wrong.
